چکیده

In Project WASTEC, an experimental Reverse Osmosis (RO) desalination system was developed. It serves as a platform for testing new technologies. For this system, we solved two problems, which are described in paper. Firstly, developed and investigated strategies scheduling chemical enhanced backwashing cleaning secondly, due to the nature of project, several technological developments with respect materials methods were integrated into requires tools evaluating economic viability task, economics membrane-based will be investigated. Baseline systems reverse osmosis pretreatment (microfiltration ultrafiltration) economically examined compared their investments operational costs. Sensitivity different plant membrane parameters cost studied. Results show that costs, 200m3/hr design capacity plant, volume water is produced by MF process at $0.494 $0.486 ultrafiltration microfiltration. The cannot directly, but it required $ 0.49 / m3 56 m3/hour capacity. values line costs reported literature filtration.

Scale-up Strategies for Membrane-Based Desalination Processes: A Review

Membrane-based technologies have increasingly been chosen in desalination processes, which is evidenced by the increase of large-scale plants constructed in recent years. Indeed, several appropriate strategies should be considered to minimize problems faced during the construction, such as membrane system designs, area requirement, energy requirement, operation and maintenance, and environmenta...

An experimental study of solar thermal vacuum membrane distillation desalination

An experimental desalination system coupling a vacuum membrane distillation (VMD) unit and a vacuum tube solar heat collection (SHC) unit was developed and tested. The parametric sensitivity of the VMD unit performance was investigated first using an electric heater as the heat source, and then the whole system was examined using solar heat. It was revealed that hot feed temperatures higher tha...

Fabrication and Characterization of PES Based Nanofiltration Membrane Modified by Zeolite Nanoparticles for Water Desalination

In the present study, mixed matrix PES/zeolite nanoparticles nanofiltration membranes were prepared via the solution casting technique. The effect of zeolite concentration on the PES membrane performance and its properties was studied. Cross-sectional scanning electron microscope (SEM) observations showed that the porosity in the membrane sub-layer was increased with addition of zeolite into th...
